A new year - A new beginning

Hi friends, I will be abandoning this blog to this new one. The reason being that I have accepted another DT position and I have to have a scrapping blog. Being not tech savvy - I can't maintain too many blogs and hence the change. See you there....

In the meantime - I will be away from the 23rd till the 27th. Catch up with you all soon...

Yes I know - I have neglecting my blog. Its been a few hectic weeks and I have barely enough time to sleep let alone blog. Things that have happened:

1) Visiting the Orang Asli Community
2) Going on LIVE TV
3) Preparing for the concert for the CADS centre.

The concert was over yesterday. I now can breathe a sigh of relief and we can now relax and enjoy the holidays. Up next would be a trip to Singapore - which I am looking forward to. And a nice cool Xmas in Hong Kong. will blog more later. Have to go Iz to the pet shop. She is way long overdue for her grooming... Naughty mummy has neglected her too...

Journal - Raising social responsible kids

In my bid to raise social responsible kids - our latest venture was the kids doing the Alice Smith bazaar and making cookies in order to raise funds for them. I personally think that its very important to have a child that realises he/ she is much more fortunate than others are. This is not done overnight but of course through years of training.

We went to the Kg Tekir on saturday. It was amazing to see the conditions of the houses and the kids. Education is not a priority to them and a lot of the kids just while their day away by just playing. Jessy went in on tuesday to teach the kids this book - "The Hungry caterpillar by Eric Carle". The kids also learnt about the days of the week, types of food in there both in Bahasa and English. I was particularly saddened when I found out that the kids there do not know what is a birthday and what is a birthday cake. That brought tears to my eyes.

Thanks to another kind friend, Linda - she sponsored 150 cupcakes for us to bring in for the kids. These kids have not eaten a lot of the fruits that we have taken for granted - like pears, plums, some apples and oranges, strawberries etc. Nadhrah donated some party packs which the kids squealed and wowed in delight. Thanks so much Nadhrah. I am sure when you see the happiness that radiated from these kids eyes - you would have teared up.

We were cutting up fruits in a frenzy to serve the kids and they gobbled most of the stuff up. What a great feeling it was - just serving and doing good. It was a tiring day but it was all worth it! I am now planning when to go next!

Journal -Paranoid??

I am really totally knackered. I have been on adrenaline for some time. I have not returned to my usual lazy self at all. For an inkling of how I normally operate - just picture GARFIELD. Yup - thats me!

I have been quite tired and I have also been snapping at people. A friend called me paranoid with my daughter - I couldn't control myself and I snapped back publicly at her. That is not my normal self but I think tiredness came into play and some other reasons too. I kept wondering if I really come across like a paranoid parent?

Like the charity concert that the kids are performing at - of course I nag them everyday to practise their piano. Would that be considered PARANOID? I do not think so. I have faith in the teacher and when it comes to ability - I most often let the teacher decide. Of course I do test out my kids to see if they can do it themselves and most often - they prove to me that they can do better than I have expected them to do. A simple caption - like - Sean Ku Airlines - Delighting you always - puts a smile on my face. No doubt it was copied from Canon but he is only 8 years old and to put 2 and 2 together - I am happy.

The concert is looming and I am still writing the script. We had the rehearsal today. I was quite amazed to see that there were not many parents nor kids attending the rehearsal. PErhaps I am kiasu but I thought that it would be better for the kids to just re-familairise themselves to the surroundings since it has been 2 years since our last charity concert in a hotel. Perhaps I am wrong thus paranoid.

I am not the type of parent who will let my kids fail. Its not that I want them to excel but I see no reason for a child to fail if they have tried. The worst thing is to do their handwriting, colouring etc for them to save the hassle of telling them to do it. Perhaps my reluctance to do that does stresses me which eventually I do share to my friends and thus allowing them to brand me paranoid.

Well, I am coping and doing my best. All I want is sensible kids. I want them to be responsible and if they do something wrong - they have to own up. In no way - I will accept a "I don't know" as I feel that no one is STUPID in this world. It is just up to yourself to accept the knowledge and strive to gain it - that is the most important.

Lately - I have been quite DUH to say the least. But I have forgotten to take pics at the American Bazaar. Luckily I have remembered to take some rudimentary shots at the Alice Smith Xmas Bazaar. I have to remember to thank the following people for all their help rendered:

1) Agnes
who drove diligently and made such beautiful cards, cookie gift containers, crackled some signs for us, Xmas ornaments, buying us the wires for the albums etc for us to sell and worked so hard for everything. My heartfelt thanks to you Agnes.

2) Jessy
who is my "in-house" photographer and always is there to support me. Helped me make beautiful cards, taking lovely photos, Xmas ornaments, etc.

3) Aida
Most of the kids that bot the notebooks were lovingly fingering the tassels that you taught me. We have an order for the Ikea Spice Jars - 20 - thanks to you - you single handedly helped me raise RM400 plus. Thanks so much for your ideas.

4) Nadhrah
For helping us sell our products at the Curve, her house, The Choice in Bangsar etc etc... A very big thank you as the first sale was made by you.

Thanks so much for the aid in getting our tables at the Alice Smith and so generously sponsoring our tables. In addition - you were great in promoting our products and the bulk of sales came from you.

I was busy when the kids was baking the cookies and I missed a great opportunity taking photos of them UNSUPERVISED baking in the kitchen. However, I am proud to say that they managed to come up with beautiful and yummy cookies. HEnce I am very proud. The cookies sold well at the ALice Smith bazaar and I hope that in time - my kids will learn that helping people can be a GREAT hobby...

Did this canvas on a whim. I was talking to Shar and she used this MM sheet of paper to make ATCs. Hence - I have decided to use it in another way. I remembered that Yatie told me about these little small canvases -thanks Yatie and hence this idea popped into my head. I haven't finished the sides but I am too excited and want to share with everyone.

I am very happy that I managed to get off my butt to do something creative and thanks Shar for the inspiration.

A great get-together

It has been a weekend of highs and lows for me. Fri was such a rush as the Halloween went well. But the very next day - well to put it mildy - to be scolded using profanities by a person whom I always helped this while - well - that was quite a slap on the face. I do have a few choice words for her and her sister too but why engage right? When she can't even read what I type? It would be such an utter waste of time.

Anyway - due to the cancellation of the crop party, I was stuck with there very expensive cupcakes. Hence, I have decided to ask the ladies to come over for a tea. It was quite a coincidence that Yatie was in town and we all had a blast.

Pls note that the filling in the other cupcakes were BAD - but the lady that made the cupcakes was very sweet and refunded me my money and even bought me a box of chocs. Thanks very much SY for your kind gesture.

Anyway - it was an afternoon filled with laughter and fun even though not so planned. It was good to have enjoyed myself with these lovely ladies. More photos coming soon. I can't seem to find them in my Iphoto. Maybe I didn't download them all from my gmail account. Hee hee. Toodles - lots to do and will try to blog what I made later.

Btw - my gum is quite painful and I am slightly feverish - sigh....

I did this layout using the Pencil Lines sketch. Sean was the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz school play. Took these photos after his play. I have to say that he looks extremely cute in his costume.

Sean was selected to the be the Tin Man in the school play. A quick visit to the tailor with with some silver material - the suit was done. When it came back - the suit was actually too small. Hence - I decided to piece together a vest to cover the catastrophe. Luckily it all worked out.

Sean looked pretty cute but he complained so much about the itchy silver material. Plus to put silver face paint on him - I am telling you that this boy is quite wicked. Plus I had to add more makeup like the eyebrows, eye liner and lipstick - he was scandalised. But I managed to pull rank and forced him. I think he looked pretty good in the end.

Thanks to Jessy again - I have such cute photos to scrap. I have been wanting to scrap about Clarissa and Sean's sibling rivalry for the longest time. Now that I have finally done it - what a relief!

I love this set of papers from College Press from who else Nadhrah at Scrappingglitz. I think the Xmas colours are fantastic! They are so bright and cheery and I would definitely love to make another couple of Xmas album for my friends for Xmas! I think this is what I should do then - this year everyone is getting a small hand-made Xmas album from me. Hee hee...

I was blog surfing when I saw all the following sayings posted at this blog. I could'nt resist posting them too:

Every summer Clarissa and Sabby come together during the summer holidays and spend most their time swimming and relaxing in our pool. Jessy cleverly captured them just floating around and this photo is just too precious. A must scrap!

I have also drew inspiration from Iris. Her latest layout is incorporating rubons. I have realised that I bought so many rubons and don't use them. Its a horrible mistake and I am paying for it as most of them are ruined already. Sigh... So time to dust off those rubons and use them. Thanks Iris for this very clever idea.

I finally have been able to start scrapping. Boy I am so relieved as I that I managed to do a layout. It may not have turned out fantastic but it was fun. I have used the Zig pens both Chalk and Metallic for my paisley flower. To enhance the whole layout, I have decided to add blings and the Ranger Dimensional Pearl.

I have finally started scrapping again the night before. Gosh - some people cannot live without exercising, I think I cannot live without scrapping. I was so grouchy and unhappy when I was stuck - unable to scrap.

Its going to be the moon cake festival on sunday. Made these lanterns with the kids using the small Pringle's container. Thought I could kill 2 birds with one stone by recycling and doing something with them. If you are interested, you can find the tutorial on how to do this here.

Woohoo - after a somewhat lacklustre trip to Macau and Hong Kong - we are finally back home. I am keen to get back into my usual routine. The kids are finally going back to school tomorrow. I am so glad! I will have time to myself and can start doing my own stuff. Hope to also start to do housework as our domestic engineer will be off next month. Yes, we are off again - this time to JB and then Spore till friday. Will also be going to Macau and HK till the following tuesday for the Merdeka holidays. I had to make 2 for my partners and I have sent one off without taking a photo of it and hence I have decided to repeat the design again as I loved it so much. We are finally home. Yes, everyone - we had fun in London and Leicester. Will upload the photos in my travel blog when I shake off this jet lag and developing migraine.

Well - its that time of the year again - its the end of term and the kids are having their class party today. Its been a busy week for mummy as I had to prepare food for their class parties. Baked 100 cupcakes yesterday and iced them simply, made some pesto aubergine tarts and baked some chicken wings too for the kids. So I am exhausted. I think I will take a nap before I start working on my scrappy things again.

Ruey gave me this cool idea of getting cheap notebooks for the kids to alter. Armed with 90 sen (RM0.90) notebooks - I was determined to inspire my kids to make them and hopefully they will like it. Well - this certainly looks like it - a tornado ripping into my room. What happened here? All the mess. Its a result of Clarissa and Sean making some altered notebooks this morning. It feels like they have dismantled my whole room!!!

Sean only managed to make 4 notebooks and 1 for mummy - how sweet - thanks baby. Clarissa on the other hand scored a grand total of 12. I am a happy mummy and this is my bid for the week for trying to take their attention off the tv and games. I don't think I have been successful though. Sigh....

Made this layout for SK's this month challenge - "I did it!". I found this very very old handwriting piece written by Clarissa when she was 3 years old. It was quite dirty and and had some scribbles on it. I used correction fluid to erase the unwanted parts and scrapped this piece of work.

I am back at doing cutouts for this layout as I was lazy. But I think its quite a nice effect on this layout.

There are many reasons why I scrap but predominantly - its cos I want to preserve memories for Clarissa and Sean. I know I may not be a good mother in terms of patience etc but I try to be a good mother for their memories.

Its a very simple layout as I feel that it reflects me - just a simple scrapbooker. This page will go into the first ever country-wide Scrapbooking Circle Journal. I hope to get as many entries as possible to this journal and hopefully this journal will be around for a long long time.

Clarissa is home from camp and the fighting starts the minute she gets into the car. Sigh... Where is that Aston Martin when I want one. I would gladly trade for these 2 brats. Clarissa came up with some cool-looking ATCs yesterday. She must have been watching me scrap very often as I could see she was quite a pro at this as she played along. She tried to mix colours and on her own intiative, she dabbed dots using my acrylic dabbers. She stamped quite a lot too which resulted in many differet patterns and style. She even added an alphabet as name initials. Great job baby.

I hope that she will start a trend in her class for exchanging these ATCS - which are Artists Trading Cards basically. That should keep the kids busy creating on these little pieces of paper measuring 3 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches each. Very simple and very low in cost but scores high in the creativity department. Hope we start a trend soon.

Made this album for a Shar. I had fun doing this and pushed myself to do a gothic style album for a change. It was quite difficult for me as my style has always been clean and neat. However, I must say I could get used to this style. I felt that I was having so much fun and so creative when I was playing with this album.

I have used the album that I made during SK's online crop as Clarissa's little album. Clarissa is such an insecure child - I have to encourage her constantly that she is fine by herself and she should not be listening too much to negative comments by others.

I remember the time when she came home and cried - "Mummy - so and so called me ugly." Hence - this album is to enourage her in a simple way not to listen too much to negative comments.

Izzie has made some progress over the past few days. She is walking better and she is moving around a bit more. However, she is vomitting everyday now and she has been having so many accidents in the house even though we bring hr out at least 5 times a day now.

I have been busy and neglecting everything as Izzie has been sick. It has been a very sad ordeal for us as we found out that the illness that Iz has is not treatable at all. I have cried buckets over it and it took my 3 days to get myself together. I will now try to blog and remember the good times that we had with Iz.

This is a photo of Iz I took yesterday. She is like this most of the time although she has perked up a little today. We are praying for her to get better and a little milestone today - she could go downstairs by herself. I was estatic.

Made this lo using the new Luxe transparency that I bot. Had fun with it as I decided to use the Tim Holtz Distress embossing powder together with the Tim Holtz stamp to create the bubble like effects. I have had fun playing with this.

The background pp is a pp that I made myself using some distress inks. The I added the transparency thereafter and stitched around the lo. I have also embossed clear embossing powder on the dragonfly and I loved the effects of it. The rest is self explanatory I guess.

I am seriously having to catch up with my blogging. Made this layout for a moderator's challenge which I am running for SNC forum. The title of the challenge is "Undiscovered Picasso".

I loved this drawing done by Sean when he was 4 years old. I thought it was brilliant as he drew the footballers whilst watching television. Yes, its kinda funny as every footballer has a football at his feet but I guess he had no concept of the game at the time. He named this drawing LOCIM as he didn't know how to spell football at the time.

Journal - Fish from Kuala Selangor

I dedicate this post esp for Wati's hubby. I hear he is a superb fisherman in his own right. Hubby just bought these fishes from Kuala Selangor. Its a fisherman's village and the fishes and prawns from there are very fresh and cheaper than KL.

This time DH bought loads of prawns. They may appear small in this photo but bear in mind this bowl is the BIGGEST you can get in IKEA. Its sort of a salad bowl size. The first prawn pictures are fresher and retailing at RM48 per kilos. There are 2 kilos in the bowl there.

Next we have the pomfrets which hubby loves. Its not the normal white pomfret and I know it by a chinese name hence I have no idea what it is called in english.

The prawns at the bottom is cheaper at RM40 a kilo. Not so fresh but again sizable - 2 kilos there. That definitely sums up for this buying fish trip! Then, there is a mackerel and a grouper. Hope you enjoy the fishes Chris.

Call me a sentimental fool but I had to record this momentous event down. The kids are always fighting and I am still focusing my attention on that rare moment of peace that happened a couple of days ago. HEnce - I have decided to scrap it so that I wont forget. Made this lo specifically for the SK June challenge -A Father's bond. I chose this picture as hubby does have very broad shoulders and I managed to find the appropriate quote for it:

"Father - There's no pillow quite as soft as a father's strong shoulder."

I was also very pleased that I found some quotes that hubby always say to the kids in the sticker too:

"Money doesn't grow on trees", "When I was your age" and "Go ask your mother" - these 3 quotes are rally what hubby says to the kids all the time!

Other than that - he says nothing at all. Hence I have included a small scalloped journalling note - to remind Sean that yes - daddy is a man of few words but you 2 have this unique bond. Always look up to him.

Yesterday as the kids were getting ready for school, Sean had trouble with his laces. To my surprise and delight, Clarissa actually went to him and knelt down to tie his shoelaces. There is definitely light at the end of the tunnel. Most times they are always fighting with each other and at each other's throats. I do live for this moment - a significant moment - 2 mins of peace - it was bliss.

Journal - Izzie's haircut

Jolene - this post if for you. Izzie has grown quite a lot as you can see. She went for a haircut by Mr Wong today and she came home looking very groomed and all pretty. I think she was very happy with the haircut. As you can see from these pictures.

She loves snacks like apples and pears now. Very greedy at times but she is still nice and trim as we dont overfeed her. She takes walks 3 times a day and enjoys hanging out with the boys - 2 shih tzus (Snoopy and Spot), one golden retriever (Snowy) - we think she is in love with him, 1 dalmatian and a dashound. They enjoy their walks together in the mornings and evenings and she goes alone for her walk around mid day.

She is also quite a spoilt brat. She needs to be cuddled the minute we come home. She would actually jump on us and expect to be hugged and kissed. She sometimes has a nap with me on the sofa. I do enjoy that as its like having a child sleep next to me. Thats all for an Izzie update. Hope you enjoy seeing her here....

Joined the SNC forum online crop today after dinner very ill-prepared but I still managed to survive 2 challenges. Hence I am happy for that in spite of the mess in my room due to the unpacking of the TV. Somehow = the dust has triggered renew coughing and running nose. Sigh.

The first challenge was to make a layout based on a movie poster. One stood out to me and begged to be scrapped and I couldn't resist this - Isn't this Panda the cutest???

Journal - My New TV

Hubby finally changed the tv in my room today, thanks dear. I hate the small tv and going from 61 inches in the family room to a 24 in my room is difficult. I feel that I am not able to see whats going on the TV. HEnce - this is my new 49 inch tv!!! Yippee!! The bummer was the delivery man who was supposed to send it at 3p.m. only arrived at 6.30pm.

This left my no time to prepare for the online crop at the SnC forum as I had to bring the kids out for dinner first. Anyway - hope I still can keep my eyes open and enjoy the tv before I go to bed.
