We left for Beijing on the 26th May, 2007. It proved to be such a memorable trip. I loved all the historical sites, namely the Forbidden Palace, Summer Palace (another wower!!!), The Great Wall, the Ming Tombs and the Tianamen Square. We were very surprised that Beijing was so developed although I must say that the attitude of the people was less to be desired. They were trying to scam us the minute we opened our months and they noticed that we were foreigners, sigh... That really left a black mark against Beijing though. Hubby was so put off China cos' we had to haggle and argue about payment everyday and it was exhausting! In addition, we were told that our prices were already better than the prices that they charge the caucasians - they audacity!!!
On the plus note, we stayed at the Beijing Crowne Plaza at Wangfujing. Must say that I was very impressed with their service. Kudos to all the staff there and a big thank you for making our trip pleasant in the hotel. I would definitely recommend Beijing if you are into the culture and historical sites. We would definitely do the Terracotta Warriors in Xi'an soon. But I would first have to convince the hubby.
