We had a fire in the apartment today. There was literally very little time to react. My first instinc was to call the fire department and to get to the source of the fire. The smoke was extremely thick hence, we were unable to near the source.
Next, I decided to have to remove my cars as it was very near the fire. I used some wet towels to cover my face and willing my courage, I went into the thick smoke and moved both my cars away from the basement into the street. In the process, I shouted at someone who was intently looking at our fire and blocking out entrance. What was he thinking - he will delay the fire engines from coming in.
Then, I instructed the guards to open the gate where the fire was to await for the arrival of the fire engines. By that time, and I still am now quite dizzy with the smoke inhalation. Then II ran around to every unit and banged on the door to get everyone out. That very exhausting work when you have breathed in a lot of smoke. After getting everyone out, the stubborn old me walked back into my apartment for all our passports, etc. Yeah - that was stupid but I knew that it would be extremely difficult to replace our passports.
This proves that we definitely need to practise a fire drill in this apartment. I am glad that everyone is unscathed and the forensic teams are investigating into the matter. Thus I am only posting some photos that I took and not the crucial ones.

thank god u are safe n sound...
You said it babe... The only freaky moment was when I had to get my 2 cars out. It was really a leap of faith walking into the thick smoke. But with God's grace I was not harmed. But the apt floor is extremely hot in some areas, I suffer from smoke inhalation, and I have water leaking into my apartment as a result of the pipes melting. No biggee...
I'm so glad that you and your family are alright!
God bless.
