Journal - Augmentin Jabs

I have been asked a lot of times why Sean has an IV on his hand. Well, basically, he needed the Augmentin intravenously to fight the tonsillitis, I guess the oral antibiotics would take too slow to act. The process is relatively simple. He gets hooked onto this machine (1st Pic) which times his twice daily Augmentin jab into his IV for 30 minutes. We are unable to jab in too fast as it is too painful to do so.

Thereafter, the nurse flushes the line or IV with saline to ensure that it does not get clogged up. Otherwise we would have to reset the line. We had to reset the line from the left hand to the right on tuesday night as he started to feel the pain when the antibiotics went it. In addition, his hand was getting swollen from he jabs. But I am happy to report that Sean is a trooper and did not even cry when they inserted the IV. Hope this answers all the questions on IV.
Before I end this post, I would like to thank all the personnel at the A and E at Gleneagles for doing such a great job with Sean. This would include Dr Balwinder Singh, the nurse in the photo and all the night nurses too (yes, the one with nice makeup) and the cashiers who were helpful.
